Paddy is a common nickname for Patrick here, and its not offensive to call someone Paddy if that is there actual name. but we definitely DON'T refer to Irish people in general as "Paddies". It is universally insulting to use a common name as a term for everyone from a particular heritage m calling an Irish person Paddy is definitely an insult if it's not their actual name.
